What are wheat berries?

Wheat berries are the unprocessed, unrefined, natural form of wheat before it becomes flour and or other grain products. Its whole and unaltered state grants a big nutritional boost, and its unprocessed texture is great for adding fiber to your diet.

How can I use wheat berries?

How to make wheat flour without a grinder

If you want fresh milled flour from your wheat berries but do not have a grinder, a good blender is a great option. Most kitchens already have one.

You will need to pour the wheat berries into the blender a little bit at a time, a quarter cup intervals works best.

Once you've added all you want to grind, keep blending until you’ve reached the consistency of flour you want.

Once you’ve arrived at the fineness or coarseness you desire, you may pour your fresh homemade flour through a strainer or a sifter to remove any hulls or little bits of chaff that may have made their way into the blender.

Please note that homemade flour is not processed, so it will tend to spoil quickly because the oils in it will go rancid. It's best to only grind what you currently need.
